William Bailey was a resident in San Francisco, CA, who owned a safe deposit box at Colonial Liberty Bank, which contained his wife's platinum sapphire necklace. Due to its value, Cal Sweeney, who robbed the deposit boxes, payed a visit to Bailey, acting as Peter Carr, an insurance representative from the bank. Sweeney wanted to know how much the necklace meant to Bailey, and when he showed his true intention, killed Bailey after he threatened to call the bank.
